Description Plants 30-80cm tall. Leaves 8-12 verticillate, each leaflet 2-3cm long, 1.5-3mm wide. Flowers white corollas ca. 2.5mm across, flowering in June to August. Perennial plants.

Note There are 4 native local species of Galium verum in Japan: Galium verum L. var. asiaticum Nakai (yellow flowers), Galium verum L. var. asiaticum Nakai forma nikkoense (Nakai) Ohwi (white flowers), Galium verum L. var. trachycarpum de Candolle (yellow flowers and hairy ovary) and Galium verum L. var. trachycarpum de Candolle forma album Nakai (white flowers and hairy ovary). There is no Galium verum L. subsp. verum in Japan, except of naturalized plants.
